Why Hiring a Licensed & Insured
Junk Removal Service in Edmonton Matters
When you're hiring someone to remove junk from your home
When you’re hiring someone to remove junk from your home or property in Edmonton, you might be tempted to go with the cheapest option. But what many homeowners don’t realize is that cutting corners can come at a steep cost — legally, financially, and even physically.
At The Waste Company, we’re fully licensed with the City of Edmonton, carry full commercial liability insurance, and are covered by WCB (Workers’ Compensation Board) Alberta — and here’s why that matters to you.
The Hidden Risks of Hiring Uninsured Junk Removal Services
Hiring a “guy with a truck” might seem like a deal, but if they’re not licensed or insured, you could be on the hook if something goes wrong. Here’s what can happen:
Injury on Your Property:
If a worker gets injured while hauling junk or lifting heavy items on your property, and they’re not covered by WCB, you could be held legally and financially responsible.Property Damage:
Without liability insurance, if your walls, driveway, or landscaping are damaged during the removal, you’ll have no recourse to recover costs.City Fines or Complaints:
Edmonton has specific licensing requirements for junk removal. Hiring an unlicensed provider could put you in violation of local bylaws.Illegal Dumping Liability:
If an uninsured or unlicensed junk hauler dumps your waste illegally, you may be tracked down and fined by the City of Edmonton or Alberta Environment.

What You Should Always Ask Before Hiring a Junk Removal Company
Before anyone steps foot on your property, ask these important questions:
🔹 Are you licensed with the City of Edmonton?
🔹 Do you have WCB coverage for all employees?
🔹 Do you carry commercial liability insurance?
🔹 Where does the junk get disposed of?
If they can’t answer these, walk away. It’s not worth the risk.
