The Waste Company didn’t begin with a business loan, a fleet of trucks, or a corporate office. It began in 2012 with a simple goal: earn a little extra income while helping people and do it the right way.
What started as a small father-daughter dog-waste pickup service soon evolved into something much bigger. Today, The Waste Company Ltd. is one of Edmonton’s most trusted, community-focused junk removal and waste collection services, proudly built on honesty, respect, and a commitment to keep as much as possible out of the landfill.
Long before sustainability became a trend, The Waste Company was built on a simple belief: most “junk” isn’t junk at all — it just needs a second life. Our approach is different than most waste removal companies:
Items like clothing, strollers, household goods, and books are donated to local organizations such as the Bissell Centre, supporting families & individuals in need
Materials like wood, scrap metal and e-waste are salvaged so they can be repurposed and salvaged instead of discarded.
We take a little extra time while loading sorting while we load every job to ensure disposal is the final option, not the first. It makes a difference
This philosophy continues to guide every service we provide ,whether we’re clearing a garage, helping a senior downsize, or assisting a family during a difficult transition
In the spring of 2012, armed with a Dodge Dakota and a scoop, my daughter and I launched a dog-waste removal service. It was surprisingly profitable but, “after a few seasons, it became a very… crappy job.”
So in 2014, I took a leap into junk removal with the same Dodge Dakota and a homemade 5th-wheel trailer. The very first junk removal job was helping a senior clean her basement that single act of service sparked what The Waste Company would become.

By 2015, I officially registered the business and reinvested every dollar into better equipment. First a full-size Dodge Ram 1500, then a 16-foot gooseneck trailer that became the true game-changer. Work poured in from homeowners, property managers, and contractors who appreciated his friendly service, fair pricing, and honesty.
From day one, I refused to overcharge just because he could a value still embedded in the company today. My genuine care for customers quickly earned The Waste Company a flawless reputation, with 100% 5-Star Google Reviews — and not a single negative rating.
There is no shortage of junk removal companies but there is only one The Waste Company.
Here’s what sets us apart:
Local, owner-operated, not a franchise
Reliable, on-time, friendly, and professional service
Transparent pricing with no hidden fees
Fully insured, WCB covered, and commercially licensed
We help seniors, people with disabilities, single parents & those who need extra support
Scheduled weekly & bi-weekly waste collection (rare service in Edmonton!)
Donation, sustainability & community at the core of everything we do

This was our first time using the Waste Company for junk removal from our rental property. The company made such a great first impression! Gus responded quickly to our questions/requests and was very accommodating. The clean up went smoothly! We especially liked that there were notifications about the estimated time of arrival and when they arrived at our unit. We appreciated receiving pictures after the job was completed! Very impressed with the service and highly recommended!Posted on Google![]()

Had Gus come out and remove debris left from our basement flooding. Was prompt, professional and very reasonably priced. He also cleaned up once he finished. Would definitely recommend for all your waste disposal needs!Posted on Google![]()

Called Gus to take down a shed that's been on the property for longer the 30 years, and the squirrels toke it over, he didn't hesitate, him and the crew worked very hard, and Gus built me a small fence, so I wouldn't have a problem with people walking on my property, very pleased with the work, I would recommend him to everyone!Posted on Google![]()

Gus gave me a a 2 hour window for when he would arrive to remove my items. He then proceeded to tell me he was running late and changed the time 3 times before saying he had a flat and wasn’t coming. Aside from the circumstances surrounding this that made this particular difficult, I would not recommend giving your business to someone who clearly doesn’t respect people’s time.Posted on Google![]()

We hired The Waste Company to remove appliances, a mattress, and a large quantity of meat from a freezer that had unfortunately been left open. Gus was prompt with all communication, on time for the appointment and worked quickly and efficiently to remove everything. He also went above and beyond to make sure that we were 100% satisfied with his work. I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.Posted on Google![]()
