Why We Require Advance Notice

Infestations pose significant health risks and can spread rapidly if not properly contained. To ensure safe and effective service, we require clients to inform us before our arrival if their unit is or was infested with bed bugs or roaches.

Mandatory Professional Fumigation

Prior to any junk removal in an infested unit, we mandate that the property undergoes professional fumigation. This step is crucial to eliminate active pests and prevent further spread.

Our Safety Measures

When servicing treated units, our Junk Removal Specialists wear disposable:

Full Tyvek suits with head coverings
Tyvek booties
Gloves and other necessary PPE

These precautions minimize the risk of transferring pests to other areas or our team members’ homes.

Stop Work Policy

If we encounter an infestation on-site without prior notice, we will:

Issue a Stop Work Order
Charge a Personal Safety Rate to cover the cost of PPE and specialized disposal bags (if fumigations was preformed)
Reschedule the service post-professional fumigation

Frequently Asked Questions – Bed Bug & Roach Infestations

Do I need to tell you if I have bed bugs or cockroaches?

Yes — it’s extremely important that you inform The Waste Company before your scheduled junk removal if there’s any known bed bug or roach infestation. This allows us to prepare properly and helps prevent the spread to other clients, buildings, and our workers’ homes.

Will you still pick up junk from an infested unit?

We will — but only after the unit has been professionally fumigated. Once treatment is complete, our crew will wear full Tyvek suits, head coverings, gloves, and booties to safely remove the affected items.

What happens if I don’t disclose the infestation ahead of time?

If we discover bed bugs or roaches on-site without prior notice, we will immediately issue a Stop Work Order. The job will be paused, and a Personal Safety Rate will be applied to cover the cost of PPE and containment materials. The service will be rescheduled only after proof of fumigation.

What is the Personal Safety Rate?

This is an added charge that covers the cost of Tyvek suits, booties, gloves, sealed disposal bags, and decontamination procedures required to safely remove junk from infested units. It also accounts for the extra handling and disposal precautions needed.

Do you remove mattresses or furniture that had bed bugs or roaches?

Yes, we do — as long as the infestation has been treated and the items are sealed. We recommend wrapping mattresses and furniture in plastic if possible. We can also bring specialized disposal bags for you if needed.

Do you provide fumigation or pest control services?

No, we do not offer pest control or fumigation. However, we can refer you to trusted local providers in Edmonton if you need help getting your unit treated before we arrive.

- Regular inspections and prompt action are essential in preventing and controlling infestations of bed bugs and roaches in any living space.
- Educating residents on proper sanitation practices and early warning signs of infestations can help reduce the risk of bed bugs and roaches spreading throughout a building.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This was our first time using the Waste Company for junk removal from our rental property. The company made such a great first impression! Gus responded quickly to our questions/requests and was very accommodating. The clean up went smoothly! We especially liked that there were notifications about the estimated time of arrival and when they arrived at our unit. We appreciated receiving pictures after the job was completed! Very impressed with the service and highly recommended!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Called Gus to take down a shed that's been on the property for longer the 30 years, and the squirrels toke it over, he didn't hesitate, him and the crew worked very hard, and Gus built me a small fence, so I wouldn't have a problem with people walking on my property, very pleased with the work, I would recommend him to everyone!

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Gus gave me a a 2 hour window for when he would arrive to remove my items. He then proceeded to tell me he was running late and changed the time 3 times before saying he had a flat and wasn’t coming. Aside from the circumstances surrounding this that made this particular difficult, I would not recommend giving your business to someone who clearly doesn’t respect people’s time.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We hired The Waste Company to remove appliances, a mattress, and a large quantity of meat from a freezer that had unfortunately been left open. Gus was prompt with all communication, on time for the appointment and worked quickly and efficiently to remove everything. He also went above and beyond to make sure that we were 100% satisfied with his work. I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation.
